The next six week session will be beginning once school days start again. If you have a tween/teen who is interested in Pilates and Yoga, this class is the place to start!


This 6 consecutive week progressive class is designed for active teens/pre-teens.
Justin will begin the 6 week session with an introduction to Pilates and Yoga; the exercises are built on the basics throughout the course. The cost for 6 weeks is $60 ($10 per class).

Pilates (Puh-la-teez) is a method of exercise that has become very popular and mainstream over the past few years.  Endorsements are given by groups of people ranging from movie stars to housewives.  What exactly is Pilates?  Why are people endorsing it and is it all hype?  Below, we will answer some of the most commonly asked questions about Pilates.

What is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of exercise designed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s to help flexibility, body awareness, core strength, balance, posture, breathing and endurance.  This system utilizes a series of exercises on mats and equipment.  Within this framework, Pilates focuses on control and precision of major and minor muscle groups.  The six basic principles of Pilates are:  Concentration, Centering, Control, Fluidity, Precision, and Breathing.

Chandrakant

Chandrakant has studied and practiced yoga and meditation with Gurudev Shri Amritji for over 30 years. A Senior Teacher and seminar leader at the Amrit Yoga Institute, John is skilled at blending his understanding and experience in simple, engaging teachings that offer program participants opportunities to move more deeply into practice. John is a preacher’s son, a Vietnam era veteran and a graduate of Rutgers University. He has developed the Amrit Method of Integrative Relaxation from Yoga Nidra in order to reach people who would not readily come to yoga. John’s community seminars and workshops in the Amrit Method of Yoga and Integrative Relaxation have been presented nationwide to corporations, hospital staff, community service groups, recovery programs and educational organizations. He also conducts on-going programs in Florida.
